Mindset over Matter?
The importance of being prepared for childbirth and to have the desired birth outcome lies fully on mindset. Or if you want: it is all about mindset over matter.
Fear takes the pleasure out of childbirth for many women, the muscles tense up, and can affect the decisions that you may need to make. In order for you to feel in control and confident about your birth experience, make sure that you have the right mindset.
A strategy for a positive mindset
In order to overcome all fears and to create the right strategy and environment for a positive birthing experience, you need to be aware of all your options for any type of situation that may arise during labor.
The birth of each child is unique, but also unpredictable. That is why you need to have a strategy in place to overcome anything that arises. This preparedness will allow you to have the mindset required to stay calm.
Learning how to control your breath is one of the first things that you must learn. Long deep breaths taken through the nostrils promote high oxygen levels during the birth and will be crucial to you and your baby’s energy levels.
You need to surround yourself with positive and inspiring people that will ease your mindset and affirm how beautiful childbirth is.
In order to overcome the discomfort of labor, visualizing something other than the contractions can help distract the mind. Ideally, this strategy would be practiced and perfected throughout the pregnancy.
These tips can help ensure that you have the mindset for a positive birth experience. Make sure that your partner has practiced these techniques with you if they will be present at the birth!
On this journey of pregnancy, motherhood and parenting i often find myself in conversations with others about all the things they weren’t told or given a heads up on.
